Mountain and Remote Environment Safety

Course Code (06MRES)

The Mountain And Remote Environment Safety Course came about from the owner’s previous work in both the film and TV sector and his time in Mountain Rescue. It has been designed to give participants the opportunity to assess the specific risks they may encounter when working away from civilisation or roads.

In this environment, the time the emergency services could take to arrive at an incident is exponentially increased. Therefore it is in every participant’s interest to have some basic knowledge on how to take care of themselves and avoid the common pitfalls of work in a potentially remote and hostile environment.

This is a one, or two days course, classroom based with some outdoor practical sessions.

The course syllabus includes: Legislation And Regulations; The Remote And Mountain Environment; Weather Conditions; Lone Working; Potential Hazards And Risks; PPE And Group Equipment; Risk Assessments And Safe Systems Of Work; Driving Away From Tarmac Roads; Navigation And Determination Of Location; Technology; Personal Equipment For Mountain And Remote Environments; Basic Emergency Aid & Emergency Procedures.
