Industrial Safety and Rescue Casualty Care is our, ‘in house’ pre-hospital medical course, specifically designed for those working on heavy industry or construction projects where the standard First Aid at Work (FAW) course would not be sufficient as the level of cover required.
The course has been designed using the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh Pre-hospital training framework as a basis, to be equivalent to a Level 4 Advanced First Responder qualification with the addition of industrial elements specific to the working environment.
The course was designed to use, a specifically designed and configured ‘responder’ backpack and set of check cards to assist the casualty carer with their treatment process in an emergency.
The course is a five day programme with both practical and written assessment at the end of the week, plus continuous observations from the instructional team during the course.
The course syllabus includes: Major Haemorrhage; Airway Management including use of airway adjuncts and medical oxygen; Respiration and Resuscitation including use of an AED; Circulation, bleeds and Wounds including use of commercial and improvised tourniquets; Head Injuries, Concussion and Spinal Immobilisation; Sprains, Strains and Fractures including use of fracture straps, splints; Rescue Stretchers; Hypothermia and Hyperthermia; Common Medical Conditions; Industrial Hazards (Can be student and site specific); Medical and Trauma Care in Hazardous Places; Evacuation of Casualties from Hazardous Locations; Prolonged Casualty Care; Getting Help (Rescue Services).
